I have to ask myself, are they strong? Are they empowered? Or are they just broken, hurting, messy, funny, corrupt, human beings who dont have it all together? Theres a common narrative surrounding female based projects that imply the women are strong and empowered. We tend to throw catchphrases out there to uplift the idea of equalit y and justice thats not actually addressing the real situation, which is that there is a learning curve in how we can all communicate properly together to achieve equality. You take away the power from empowerment by using it inaccurately.On working with the Big Little Lies castWere all very different people. Were all from different generations. We each have distinct generational journeys and are coexisting. But we all genuinely like each otherwhether the conversation is political or emotional, were very open. We always have the same idea of a solution but have different ideas on how to get there. I may have a specific idea in mind in how to get things done, and so do the other cast members. Ive never met a group of women who are able to achieve this with such transparency and honesty. We hold space for each other. Holding steadfast to your viewpoint exacerbates apathy and lack of empathy.On the cast members she was fruchtwein initially excited to work withId already worked with Lau ra Dern and Zoe Kravitz, so I was most excited to work with Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. Theyre all so down to earth so you dont feel like youre working with them as legends, because they really are such normal people. You never get to see them that way. It feels special to get to know them in such an intimate way.On Meryl Streep joining the castI immediately noticed the way Meryl held herself and the way she effortlessly and gracefully handles a script. Meryl not only memorizes her own script, she knows everyone elses. I remember her pointing out a certain line in the third scene and another line in the 60th and remarking on how they are related. I dont think Ill ever get to the point where Ill memorize everyones linesshe has such respect for the writers.On how Big Little Lies navigates the portrayal of sensitive subject matterBig Little Lies has been very challenging. The subject matters that were dealing with are so personal. Many have experienced domestic or sexual abuse or know someone in their lives who have experienced it. We have to take the time to dig into these topics, include the levity and proper human psychology that isnt always morose - theres a lot of complexity.Capturing this in the character of Jane has been challenging. When you have moments of extreme trauma in your life, you hold yourself differently. I felt that at the end of the previous season Jane has this cataclysmic release. My character needed to separate her old identity from her new one. I actually approached the team about giving Jane bangs. Its dramatic and a big change.Ive had friends in my close circle that have had similar situations in their lives. One of my extended family members actually reached out to me and told me her story of abuse. You realize that what youre doing actually matters, exotisch from the story line.On her favorite role of all timeI dont have a favorite role. For me its not about the role, its about the story. Adrift was very meaningful for me. W e filmed the entire thing in two weeks with 10 or 15 crew members in the middle of the ocean.I wouldnt say that Divergent was my favorite acting experience by any means but it was a good learning experience. It was like being in a frat or sorority for a short period of time. It was a bunch of young kids stuck together in Chicago in the middle of winter trying to make this movie work. The special effects were also a learning experience in and of itself.On how acting compares to producingRight now, I would say I prefer producing. Youre really like a conductor - you pick each piece of the puzzle and pray that they work together. I love the creativity involved. As an actor, creativity can get lost. As a producer, the amount of magic is infinite. Also, the business aspect really gets me going. I love being in charge.On setting aside your career life from your personal lifeIn my early 20s, I decided to cut my mother outside of my career. It was really difficult for her because it has bee n her life too for so long. She was the middleman in a lot of situations. But it was so important for me to make this operation happen. Me not telling my family everything about my career was a self-protection mechanism. I come from a very normal suburban family - that is where my true joy lies. If I only lived in my career or only in my personal life, I wouldnt be able to experience that joy.On her arrest at Standing Rock and activism outside of actingMy arrest was not planned. My friend at Standing Rock asked me to use my platform to get the petition signedCut to my arrest many months later, I just felt lucky to have had a Facebook live that I could stream to 50,000 people in that exact moment of arrest. What was so beautiful about standing rock was that native and non-native people were coming together to recognize all that was wrong with our system. Standing Rock really created that knowing.Im a huge proponent of all the work Conservation International is doing. Theyre an amazi ng environmental conservation organization. They are so different from other organizations. Its really about letting nature heal natureThey have employees on the ground that act as the bridge between politicians and the government, communities, and grassroots and indigenous leaders on the ground. They do the real work. Well, the reason is that governmentretirement systemsoften have retirement eligibility rules allowing people to do so. It is such an important benefit that many government workers do not seek employment outside the public sector or even outside organizations within their own retirement systems. Government retirement systems base retirement eligibility on two factors age and years of tafelgeschirr. For almost every government retirement system there is some number that represents the sum of an employees age and years of service that, once reached, makes an employee eligible to retire. The Rule of 80 Many systems use the rule of 80. It means that once an employees age and years of service total 80, the employee is eligible to retire. Here is an example. An employee begins working for a gover nment agency at age 27. The organizations retirement system operates under the rule of 80. Given this employees age and the rule of 80, the employee will be eligible to retire at age 53 1/2 after 26 1/2 years of service. Double-Dipping This early retirement age gives the employee plenty of working years left to pursue a second career or come back to public service to double-dip. Double dipping is when an employee has retired and is drawing an annuity but is also working and earning a salary in an organization that participates in the same retirement system. Retirement systems often have provisions for those who start in public service very late in their careers. Systems may adopt a retirement age where people can retire even if they have not reached the rule of 80. Many systems allow employees age 65 to retire regardless of their years of service. unterstellung individuals receive small annuities because of their few years in the system, and they may not have the same health car e benefits as those who reach the rule of 80 before retiring. Increasing the Rule of 80 To increase the number of employees contributing to the system and to reduce the number of retirees drawing from it, some retirement systems have increased from the rule of 80 to the rule of 85 or even 90. When this happens, existing employees are often grandfathered into the old rules, and new employees must meet the new requirements. Grandfathering Grandfathering makes retirement system changes more palatable to existing employees. Employees feel undercut, devalued and cheated when retirement system rules change on them. Future employees have no say in the matter because no one knows who they are yet. While grandfathering makes the sales pitch easier, it creates administrative burdens. Retirement systems must maintain two or more sets of rules, forms, help documents and the like. The increased maintenance costs continue in perpetuity until retirees under an old set of rules die out. The Rule of 90 Say the 27-year-old employee in the earlier example is in a retirement system that operates with the rule of 90 instead of the rule of 80. Because of this one change, this employee will be eligible for retirement at age 58 1/2 with 31 1/2 years of service. Retirement systems tend to have strict rules about transferring service credit from one retirement system to another. When employees move between jobs under different retirement systems, they may lose service credit. Government employees should investigate this possibility when considering a new job. When service credit does not transfer, employees may have the option to leave what they have in the old retirement system there and start fresh in the new system. An employee could wind up with different retirement dates among two or more systems. Then, the retirement dates are merely dates when an employee may access financial benefits, but employees could choose to begin accessing all their annuities at the same time .

The firm, with its headquarters in Chicago, whipped out the party hats to celebrate its five-year anniversary in the Big Apple. With food-and-drink themed rooms (Tuscan, Mexican, and whiskey), passed hors doeuvres and an open bar, the event welches impressive. Partners and associates mingled with guests in the firms Conference Center, which was transformed from a workspace to a party space with cocktail tables and live music. The event was lively, and the Jenner crew seemed genuinely excited about the five-year milestone (including those partners who battled long airport delays to get there).The firm ended the evening on a sweet note, giving guests boxes of Jacques Torres chocolates as they left.
